M. Nusrat Sharif, PhD

Dr. Nusrat Sharif is an established Immunologist & Inflammation biologist. She is a Principal Research Scientist II at AbbVie. Her research interests are in understanding the immune mechanisms of autoimmune and inflammatory diseases and the targets involved in these diseases, with the goal of finding novel therapeutics for patients with unmet disease conditions.

She received her Ph.D. from The City University of New York in Molecular Immunology and her post-doctorate in Cytokine Signaling & Inflammation from Hospital for Special Surgery & Weil Medical College of Cornell University in New York.

Her breakthrough contribution to the field was to demonstrate a change in functional paradigm of interleukin 10 (IL-10), from being an anti-inflammatory cytokine to a pro- inflammatory and a pathogenic role in autoimmune diseases such as Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE).

Dr Nusrat Sharif is currently serving as President of Ahmadi Women Scientists Association of USA (AWSA-USA) and member of National Salam Initiative team. She is a member of Boston Jamaat.
